WA’s best 2026 and 2027 AFL Draft prospects battled it out at The Good Grocer Park on Saturday morning in the annual WA Young Guns game.

Aside from those unavailable due to EGT WAFL Colts Grand Final duties on Saturday, including Claremont’s Benji van Rooyen, George Gale, Harper Banfield and Heath Mellody and South Fremantle’s Lucas Robinson and Byron Foster, the trial match was stacked with exciting talent looking to push their case for the WA Under-18s Summer Squad.

There were several standouts in front of a host of local AFL recruiters.

Swan Districts’ Leo Steed was prolific through the midfield, as was West Perth’s Campbell Creyk (pictured) who was one of WA’s most consistent performers in the AFL National Under-16s Championship earlier in the year.

Falcons key-position player Harvey Spawton-Guy, who booted three goals in his last finals appearance against Claremont less than a fortnight ago, stood tall at both ends of the ground.

East Perth and West Coast Next Generation Academy speedster Garrison Kenh showed some exciting signs across half-back.

Spawton-Guy, Kenh, Peel Thunder’s Mitch Stirling, who all featured in the match, will now turn their attention to next week’s AFL Futures Match which is the annual AFL Grand Final curtain-raiser on the MCG.

The trio are among eight West Aussies in action next Saturday.

“The bottom-aged group looks really good,” WA Football’s State Talent Manager Adam Jones said.

“The guys are showing some really good signs.”

Jones said the players would get an opportunity to take part in testing at the WA State Draft Combine in Perth on Sunday, October 12.

“We’ll invite these kids and some of the kids playing in Sunday’s WAFL Colts Grand Final to take part in the testing at State combine day to get a feel for them athletically,” Jones said.
