We take a look at the players to watch across all three grades of an exciting WAFL Preliminary Final day at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Sunday.
Seniors
Stan Wright (East Perth)
Average disposals: 23.2
Wright has been super consistent across half-back for the Royals this season and was arguably their best player in a losing cause in last week's Second Semi-Final loss to minor premiers South Fremantle.
Expect another big day from the classy talent in Sunday's blockbuster Sullivan Logistics WAFL Preliminary Final clash against Claremont at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
Alec Waterman (Claremont)
2025 goals: 20
What a performance Alec Waterman produced as Claremont qualified for Sunday's Preliminary Final.
Waterman starred in club leading goal-kicker Jaiden Hunter's absence, booting a game-high four majors in the win over Perth at Revo Fitness Stadium last week.
With Hunter remaining sidelined with concussion, Waterman has another big job ahead of him alongside fellow forward Kieran Gowdie.
Reserves
Connor Blakely (Swan Districts)
Average disposals: 24
What a luxury it is for Swan Districts' reserves to have a 78-game former AFL player, Simpson medallist and premiership winner running around for them.
Blakely adds so much experience to the Black Ducks' engine-room as they look to book a Grand Final berth against minor premiers Claremont at Optus Stadium on September 21.
Jonah Brooks (East Perth)
Average disposals: 20
Brooks was one of the stars of the show last week as East Perth kept their premiership dream alive by knocking out the highly-fancied South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
The big-bodied midfielder will need another huge outing if his team are to make it three wins from as many finals games in the reserves after they finished fifth on the ladder.
Colts
Tom Grylls (East Fremantle)
Average disposals: 21.8
The East Fremantle EGT WAFL Colts leader has produced a standout season and will be one of the favourites to win the Jack Clarke Medal as the competition's fairest-and-best player on Monday.
He's averaging nearly 22 disposals per game and connects so well with his team's forward-line.
Claremont's midfield has some serious firepower so Grylls will need to continue his hot form if the Sharks are to prevail in the Preliminary Final from 8.50am on Sunday morning.
Benji van Rooyen (Claremont)
Average hit-outs: 30.7
It's hard to believe van Rooyen is still a bottom-ager and not AFL draft eligible until next year.
The younger brother of Melbourne star Jacob has made a name for himself as a consistent ruckman for Claremont colts and WA's under-18s side to boost his draft stocks for next season.
He averages nearly 31 hit-outs per game including 35 in the Tigers' First Semi-Final victory over West Perth last week.
