The Sullivan Logistics WAFL trophy tour made its first stop on Thursday night as it heads to several rich football heartlands in regional WA over the next fortnight.
The first leg of the three-town trophy tour was the picturesque Quartermaine Oval – home of Upper Great Southern Football League powerhouse Katanning Wanderers.
Katanning has proven to be a strong breeding ground over the years with Sandover medallists Haiden Schloithe and Alan Quartermaine, former Hawthorn forward Kade Stewart and ex-West Coast rookie Ashton Hams among the biggest names to come out of the region.
Katanning is in South Fremantle’s WAFL recruiting zone and has a rich history of its own, including two senior Upper Great Southern flags in the last four years.
There were giveaways, a free junior football clinic with around 40 youngsters taking part, a barbecue, photo opportunities with the trophies as well as a hotly-contested colts game between Katanning and Narrogin under lights.
The Sullivan Logistics truck, which opened up into a stunning multi-level viewing deck, was also a big hit with both kids and their parents.
Next week sees the Sullivan Logistics WAFL League and WAFLW trophies head to Pinjarra Football Club on Wednesday evening before travelling to the Great Southern region for a visit to Retravision Stadium in Albany on Thursday.

“We’re excited to bring the Sullivan Logistics WAFL trophy to the regions as part of our trophy tour,” Sullivan Logistics founder Tim Sullivan said.
“Katanning, Pinjarra and Albany all have such rich football histories and have been the breeding grounds of some serious talent – both past and present.
“Sullivan Logistics is proud to be a part of the trophy tour and connect with the regions, just like we have on a day-to-day basis since our inception in 1995.
“It was great to see so many kids attend our first junior football clinic in Katanning and we’re looking forward to connecting with more regional footy communities next week.
“As naming rights partner of the WAFL and major partner of the WAFLW, we know the importance regional communities play in keeping the competitions thriving.
“Some of the WAFL’s greatest players have come from the regions and we’re hoping to inspire the next generation of WAFL and WAFLW stars.”
“It was a heartwarming start to our trophy tour in Katanning and we’re grateful for the club’s support in getting involved and welcoming us with open arms,” WA Football’s Head of Business Development Oliver Condon added.
“To see the smiles on the kids’ faces during the clinic makes it all worth it.
“It couldn’t have been achieved without the support of our partners including Sullivan Logistics, Kia and Asahi Beverages.
“Sullivan Logistics have a driving force behind the tour and share WA Football’s passion for growing grassroots footy in our regional areas.
“It makes my job really fun and enjoyable when we have partners that share our ambition to bring more activations to the regions and help continue to grow our great game.”
