LAST year's WAFLW Grand Finalists Claremont and East Fremantle flexed their muscles again in Round 2 of the 2024 season with West Perth continuing to impress and Swan Districts opening their account under a new coach.

Round 2 of the 2024 WAFLW season got underway with the one game on Saturday afternoon and that saw Claremont defeat South Fremantle 5.12 (42) to 4.3 (27) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Anjelique Raison was playing her second game with Claremont since crossing from East Fremantle and kicked two goals for the Tigers while Jayme Harken racked up 24 possessions, Eva Campo 21, Eva O'Donnell 19, Adele Arnup 17, Kobi Nichols 16, Claudia Wright 16 and Taylah Orzel 16.

Poppy Stockwell continued her standout start to the season for South Fremantle kicking three goals while Renee Morgan had 22 touches, Hunter Cronin 18, Molly O'Hehir 18 and Madizen Wilkins 17.

The other three games took place on Sunday including a double-header at Leederville's Sullivan Logistics Stadium beginning with East Fremantle staying undefeated in its premiership defence beating Subiaco 6.5 (41) to 4.1 (25).

All six of East Fremantle's goals were from individual sources with Amber Kinnane collecting 20 possessions, Zippy Fish 20, Chloe Wrigley 17 (15 tackles), Beth Beckett 15 and Sarah Wielstra 14.

Three of Subiaco's four goals were kicked by Claudia Langley with Maggie MacLachlan racking up 20 disposals, Eva Popovsky 19, Olivia Wolmarans 19, Krstel Petrevski 18 and Madison Dodd 16.

The second half of the double-header at Sullivan Logistics Stadium saw West Perth continue its winning start to the season beating East Perth 8.15 (63) to 1.2 (8).

Kenleigh Duve kicked three goals for West Perth and Erin O'Brien two with Megan Kauffman amassing 25 possessions, 15 hit outs and six tackles.

Brooke Hongell also had 21 touches, Imahra Cameron 17, Katherine Bennett 16, Emily Bennett 13 to go with 12 tackles and former superstar netballer Stacey Francis-Bayman had 14 hit outs.

East Perth's goal was kicked by Jessica Rentsch with Taylah Suda compiling 16 touches, Tayla Firns 15 and Rentsch 14.

Swan Districts opened its account for the 2024 season in emphatic fashion beating Peel Thunder 10.13 (73) to 1.4 (10) at Steel Blue Oval.

Courtney Zappara had an afternoon out for Swans kicking five goals with Tayla Thorn adding two while Carys D'Addario had 24 possessions, Lily Paterson 24, Taylah Edwards 19, Naomi Baker 19 and Emma Humphries 17.

Peel's lone goal was kicked by Gracie Fenton with Ebony Bilcich gathering 28 disposals, Ebony Dowson 21, Fenton 18 and Holly Britton 16.

Meanwhile, Round 2 of the Rogers Cup season got underway on Friday night at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with Perth defeating South Fremantle 7.8 (50) to 4.5 (29).

The rest of the round took place on Sunday with East Fremantle defeating Subiaco 6.6 (42) to 5.3 (33), Swan Districts beating Peel Thunder 8.8 (56) to 3.10 (28) and West Perth downing East Perth 9.9 (63) to 1.2 (8).
