Todd Baker joins the WAFCTuesday, March 5, 2024 - 1:36 PM

The West Australian Football Commission is thrilled to announce the appointment of Todd Baker to the role of Executive Manager Brand and Growth.

Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise across commercial, advertising and marketing, Mr Baker joins us from Seven West Media (SWM), where he served as Digital Program Director, spearheading the development and rapid growth of Streamer – SWM's Community Sport streaming service.

This role continues Mr Baker’s life-long association and passion for football. He has been a part of grassroots football from an early age, having competed in junior football, PSA and the Perth Football League (PFL).

More recently Mr Baker has added coaching to his resume, sharing his love for the game as an Auskick coach for his son’s team, a role he continues with in 2024 and a coaching journey he is looking to build on in the future.

Notably, Mr Baker’s lineage also adds a touch of football royalty to his profile, being the grandson of AFL and WA Hall of Fame legend and WA’s "Mr. Football", Jack Sheedy.

“It’s often said, do something you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life”, Mr Baker said.

“WA Football has been part of my family's life for over 100 years, and I'm thrilled to be able to combine my passion and love for sport, with 15+ years of experience in business and marketing.

“To have the opportunity to help grow and shape the future of WA football is a task that I don’t take on lightly, but one which I'm excited to tackle head on, alongside a team of talented people at the WA Football Commission and our wider industry.”

Prior to his tenure at SWM, Mr Baker enjoyed a stellar 11-year career of leading Perth advertising agency, 303MullenLowe, including 4 years as Joint Managing Director. As Joint Managing Director, Mr Baker steered a team of 50 professionals in Perth, overseeing the agency's day-to-day operations with unparalleled acumen and led some of WA’s leading communications campaigns for brand such as Edith Cowan University, WA TAB, Road Safety Commission and Lotterywest.

WAFC CEO Michael Roberts welcomed Todd to the Executive team.

“It is a testament to the investment and focus that the WAFC has placed on marketing the competitions, specifically the WAFL, as well as the sport, that we are able to attract a person of Todd’s calibre to become part of our Executive team,” Mr Roberts said.
