Country Championships Return After Covid Cancellations Thursday, July 7, 2022 - 10:04 AM - by Mark Readings

The 2022 Nutrien Ag Solutions Country Football Championships get underway on Thursday after a two-year hiatus due to COVID.

The Carnival will be launched with the CBH Colts at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah before Division 1 games are shared between Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Friday and Mineral Resources Park on Saturday.

Division 1 games have been scheduled for New Choice Homes Park in East Fremantle, also on Friday and Saturday.

As Regional Manager West of Nutrien Ag Solutions, Andrew Duperouzel explains why the Carnival is so important to the company.

“It is exciting to get the Championships back because our stores, staff and customers come from the country, so we have a real affinity with this event.

2022 marks the 48th year of Nutrien Ag’s support of Country Football, which is one of the longest-running sponsorship partnerships in Australia,” Duperouzel said.

The previous two years have presented unprecedented challenges for the game because of Covid, and this year the Nutrien Ag Men’s Division Finals will be hosted by the WACA for the first time.

WAFC Manager Country Football South, Brent Sheridan, is excited about the addition of a new side at this year’s Championships.

“The Gascoyne Football Association are a welcome addition to the event, and we’re excited to see what they bring to the table,” Sheridan said.

The Championships run from July 7-10.
