Jon Carson Report released Friday, June 18, 2021 - 2:00 PM

A report into the review of the WAFC Constitution relating to Governance and the Election of the Commissioners has been finalised by former WAFC Commissioner and PFL Board Member, Jon Carson.

The review commenced in 2019, prior to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Inquiry into WA Football State Funds. The recommendations made by the PAC have been considered by Mr Carson in his report.

The Carson Report contains nine recommendations for WAFC members to consider. Several of those recommendations align with the recommendations made by the PAC.

The WA Football Commission supports the proposed increased voting rights for Community Football; specifically, the recommendation that the WAFC cede half its voting rights in the election of Commissioners (10% of the total vote) to Community Football.

The Commission does not have a vote on Constitutional reform. Under the Constitution, this is a matter for the Nominee Members (West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Football Club and the nine WAFL Clubs).

The Commission will now undertake a process of extensive consultation with stakeholders in order to assess and identify the most appropriate Constitutional changes. The proposed changes are intended to be considered by a General Meeting of the Nominee Members of the WAFC.
