The free clinics saw 75 attendees in Bridgetown and close to 100 in Margaret River. The events aimed to teach kids football skills in a safe and fun environment. Participants took part in activities including footy baseball, goal kicking, handball games and warm-up activities, and were treated to a barbeque at both events. Running the events were Marketing Manager Jason Pedulla, Development Manager Steph Walding, Club Development Officer and senior player Daniel Macaulay and Football Manager Jason Thomas. Thomas said the clinics were important in maintaining a strong rapport between East Perth Football Club and its affiliated country areas. “The annual country clinics are part of EFPC’s ongoing commitment to its country zone,” he said. Joining the EPFC staff were senior players Brendan Lee, Nigel Lee, Arron Baker and Ben Stratton, who began his football career in Margaret River. “Your club of origin pretty much develops you as a footballer, so giving something back is good,” Stratton said. “Seeing all the kids running around made me remember that was me about 10 years ago.” Thomas said Stratton’s presence at the clinics strengthened the club’s ties with its country areas. “For him to return home and promote the link between the clubs is an exciting promo for the club and reiterates its commitment to the country zones and clubs,” he said. |
