Former West Australian and Australian wicket keeper Ryan Campbell will play an important role in the State game between the Carlton Draught WA State team and Queensland in Townsville on Saturday, June 7.

A player mentor at Subiaco Football Club, these days Campbell is a morning sports presenter with radio station Nova 93.7FM and his passion for football has extended to the WA State team.

Campbell, who forged a prestigious cricket career as a wicket keeper and middle order batsman for the Warriors in the Australian domestic competition, and as a member of the Australian and Australian 'A' teams, joins a support team that includes former Fremantle, Western Bulldogs and Claremont player Daniel Bandy.

WA takes on Queensland at Tony Ireland Stadium with the game starting at 2.30pm Perth time.

The final travelling squad of 23 will be named on Wednesday at the jumper presentation.
