Former AFL premiership player Jarrad Schofield has been appointed senior coach of Subiaco on a two-year deal. 

A 206-game player with West Coast, Port Adelaide and Fremantle, Schofield played 120 games for Subiaco either side of his AFL career and was part of the premiership hat-trick from 2006-08.  

After calling time on his playing career at WAFL level, Schofield spent three seasons as the club's colts coach before he followed premiership teammate Marc Webb to Claremont as an assistant.

Schofield will take over from Chris Waterman, who elected last month not to exercise his option for next season. 

CEO Peter Capes said Subiaco was pleased to have a life-member return to coach the club.
"We are excited to have Jarrad Schofield return to the club as our senior coach for what we expect to be another successful era at the Subiaco Football Club," he said.

"Jarrad brings a professional, disciplined approach and his passion for the Club combined with his previous coaching roles including with both the State 18s program and with Claremont’s premiership side this year is sure to drive this club to ongoing success."

Schofield's involvement with Subiaco began at just age 11 through his involvement with Ocean Ridge Junior Football Club, Kingsley Junior Football Club and Hale school.

He was a member of the Lions' Pride Development Program and progressed through the colts system and played league football at 18 in 1993 before he was drafted by West Coast.

Schofield was a 1996 Rising Star nominee while at West Coast but built his reputation as a key member of the 2004 Port Adelaide premiership winning midfield.
