West Australian Football League Operations Manager Cameron Knapton said the WAFL grand finals had been scheduled to maximize attendance and avoid clashing with AFL finals on Friday and Saturday.

“We want to give football fans the opportunity to watch the AFL finals and WAFL grand finals where possible,” he said.

“League finals will also start five minutes later at 2.15pm to allow for more pre-game coverage and build-up on ABC TV.

“In the event of a draw a ‘golden score’ will apply in Reserves and Colts finals, with the game clock continuing to run from the 25-minute mark of the final quarter until one team scores. A League draw will see an extra five minutes played each way.”
