Claremont will appear in its second consecutive Foxtel Cup Grand Final tonight (Thursday August 2), this time facing VFL club Werribee at Patersons Stadium in a battle of teams both nicknamed the Tigers.Click here for the Foxtel Cup Grand Final match centre
Claremont had three crushing wins on its way to the decider - West Adelaide in round one by 101 points, Mt Gravatt by 88 points in the qualifying final and Port Melbourne by 50 points in the semi-final.
Last season, Claremont lost to VFL team Williamstown by 21 points in the final.
Werribee had a big win against Burnie by 133 points before prevailing by 21 points over West Perth and 71 points against Morningside.
North Melbourne rookie Majak Daw's performance in the ruck and Kangaroos teammate Ben McKinley's goal scoring power will be pivotal for Werribee.
Speaking on Fox Footy's AFL 360 on Tuesday night, McKinley said he expected Claremont to provide strong competition although he remained confident his side could beat the WAFL powerhouse.
"[It'll be] very tough. I played a lot against them when I was with East Perth and they've got some really good ex-AFL players," McKinley said.
"They've also got the alignment with both Fremantle and West Coast, so they've got some good players that we're going to have to try to restrict."
Daw, who is yet to make his senior debut, said he had relished the opportunity to play in the Foxtel Cup this year.
"It's good for guys like me to get some experience playing on grounds like Etihad Stadium and the MCG and also travel interstate," he said.
Werribee's midfield could be a factor, in particular Kangaroos pair Levi Greenwood and Ben Speight, and in a major boost, in-form utility Cameron Pedersen is set for selection after walking away with a reprimand for rough conduct from the VFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.
For Claremont, West Coast-listed Gerrick Weedon along with Fremantle's Nick Suban, pictured with Andrew Foster, could be critical.
