Western Australia will be represented in two divisions for the first time at this year’s 2012 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships, which kick off this weekend in Blacktown, NSW.
WA’s State 16s will play in Division 1 of the Championships, while the newly formed WA North West side will compete in Division 3.
The teams will be coached by former AFL and WAFL greats Rob Wiley (WA) and Phil Narkle (WA North West) and provide an exciting development opportunity for players and support staff alike.
WA North West, which includes players from the Kimberley, Pilbara, and Gascoyne regions, was formed this year by the West Australian Football Commission with the support of the AFL, in partnership with the V-Swans program and Garnduwa.
The North West program is being run as part of the WA State Talent Academy, providing an exciting opportunity for the players to have direct access to an elite development experience and compete at the National Championships.
