STYLIST Deborah Dunsford admits to knowing little about football but knows enough to realise local players were an important inclusion in the fashion parade at the Hopman Cup Ladies Day last week.
Four Claremont Football Club players, including Tom Ayton, James Thompson, Tom Morrison and Tom Derrickx, entertained the crowd that had gathered to watch the games between Great Britain and Germany - in nothing more than a pair of shorts, a hat and a bunch of helium balloons.
"I was backstage dressing the models during the show but I heard there was a lot of flirting with the audience," Ms Dunsford said.
The 23-year-old Dunsford had the task of putting together a parade of clothes from retailers at Claremont Quarter, which hosted the Ladies Day event, including Brownies, Adam Heath, Father, Dangerfield, Portmans, Dotti, Quiksilver and Forever New.
The Mt Lawley resident said she had aimed to cater for all ages with garments like a flowing maxi dress from Storm in a Tea Cup and some retro pieces from Dangerfield.
She said there were a lot of natural tones on show and a few preppy looks complete with glasses, and all were brought together with big yellow bows worn by each model, including Stephanie Whife from Vivien's Models.
Models were also accessorised with bags but all were barefoot, encouraging the crowd to focus exclusively on the clothes.
Ms Dunsford said the show was more relaxed than other collections she had put together because there were always a few of the models on the court at once, but it worked well.
"I've had nothing but good feedback from the event," she said.
