AUSTRALIAN cricket legend Justin Langer, former Wallaby and inaugural Western Force player John Welborn and Box Magazine CEO & WA personality Troy Barbagallo have all agreed to terms with the WA All Stars, as Coach David Parkin builds his team to take on Subiaco Football Club when they clash on February 4 at Medibank Stadium.
Langer has been Subiaco’s No 1 ticket holder for the past nine years. He represented Australia in 105 test matches, captained the Western Warriors and was Wisden’s Cricketer of the Year in 2001.
Langer was also received as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008. Langer has never taken a backwards step and Coach Parkin expects him to be going in strongly for the contested ball.
Standing at 197cm, John Welborn is the Managing Director of mining group Prairie Downs Metals. A Chartered Accountant, John was the first West Australian born player to represent the Wallabies. With his height and imposing presence around the field, Subiaco will find him tough to contain.
Box Magazine CEO and organiser of the WA Miss Universe contest, Troy Barbagallo, has also been recruited by Coach Parkin to add some more aggression to his line up. Swapping boxing gloves for football boots, Troy believes that he can have an impact for the WA All Stars
These three players will join Coach Parkin’s already impressive roster for this much anticipated clash.
The game will be held at Medibank Stadium on February 4th with bounce down at 6.30pm.
Entry fee will be a gold coin donation with all proceeds going towards the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
