Roe was originally rookie listed by Collingwood but delisted without making a senior appearance. He then played for North Adelaide in the SANFL where he resurrected his career and was rookie listed by Brisbane at pick 6 in 2005.
After a slow start due to collarbone surgery it took only three games for the Brisbane Lions to elevate him to the senior list in place of the injured Chris Scott.
Roe went on the play 50 games for the Lions and at 192cm has the exciting combination of both height and speed that will add some versatility to the Royals in 2010.
League Coach Tony Micale stated: “Jason is a great acquisition to the club and his versatility to play a variety of roles as well as his AFL experience will add a lot to the squad. He is a quality person off the field as well which is something we look for in recruits and he will be able to mentor the young players we have at the club.”
