East Perth Football Club has announced that West Coast Eagles premiership player David Wirrpanda will play for the club next season.
Wirrpanda is a veteran of 227 AFL games with the West Coast Eagles over a 14 year period. During his time at the Eagles Wirrpanda was selected in the 2005 All Australian team, represented his country in the International rules series in 2003 and was awarded the Inaugural AFL Community Leadership Award in 2003.
Wirrpanda has previously played 25 games for the Royals between 1996-98 during which he made his WAFL League debut and the club is delighted to have him back in the jumper.
Senior Coach Tony Micale said: “David will add much needed experience to our playing group especially in mentoring our young emerging players and also providing guidance to our up and coming Academy members in our metropolitan and country regions.
"There is no doubt he will be a major draw card for the WAFL competition with his exciting style of play and profile and I look forward to working alongside David again."
Wirrpanda’s manager Jim Tsgalis said: “David is delighted to give something back to WAFL and grassroots football in association with the David Wirrpanda Foundation."
The East Perth Football Club is looking forward to season 2010 when the club will strive to return to the WAFL finals for the first time since 2007.
