WA Football Media Awards

The West Australian Football Commission and WA Football Media Guild hosted the annual WA Football Media Awards at Patersons Stadium on Wednesday night, November 16, to recognise the outstanding contribution of people working in all fields of football.

This included members of the television, radio and print media, WAFL and AFL players and coaches, as well as special service awards for outstanding dedication to our great game.

Three new life members to be honoured by WAFC

THE West Australian Football Commission is delighted to announce that Life Memberships will be awarded to long-serving football identities Neale Fong, Bill Sutherland and Bob Uittenbroek.

Each will be inducted at the WAFC Life Members’ Christmas Luncheon on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Patersons Stadium.

Induction to the WAFC Life Members’ Association is regarded as the WAFC’s highest level of recognition, distinct from life membership awarded by individual football clubs and associated bodies, and is awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding overall contribution to football.

AFL Multicultural All Star Camp celebrates CHOGM

The AFL together with the Australian Government today kicked off a unique program that will see young footballers in Perth from a range of cultural backgrounds take part in the AFL Multicultural All Star Camp to celebrate the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) coming to their city. Minister for Defence Stephen Smith was on hand to officially open the camp at the Fremantle Football Club and meet the participants.

Driven by the West Australian Football Commission, the AFL Multicultural All Star Camp will run from Friday October 21 to Monday October 24 to coincide with the start of the Commonwealth Youth Forum.

WA Football kicking goals with PILA

The West Australian Football Commission is delighted to announce a new partnership with football goals manufacturer PILA group.

PILA group’s range is perfectly suited to junior football clubs, with the aim of this partnership to provide community clubs with an affordable goal post supplier.

Junior community football has one of the biggest participation footprints of any sport in the state with an estimated 30,000+ participants, equating to over 9000 games per season.
