Burley remains ball of choice for WA Football

THE West Australian Football Commission has signed a new three-year deal with Burley as the officially endorsed supplier of footballs to all WA competitions.

The partnership will see Burley footballs used for the first time across all competitions including the West Australian Football League, WA Country Football League, WA Amateur Football League, WA Women’s Football League, AFL Masters WA, all junior competitions and by WAFC District Development staff.

Burley footballs have a history dating back to 1907, when the ball was first used in a WAFL league match between East Fremantle and West Perth. Word spread quickly and by 1913, Burley had expanded to Victoria, the home of football.

Burley footballs have been used by the Victorian Country league for many years and for the last three seasons have also been used exclusively in all SANFL matches.

In 2011, Burley’s success was acknowledged by the AFL with the awarding of an AFL Football License. This allows Burley to distribute a range of club coloured supporter footballs as well as leather and synthetic balls.

Burley footballs are also used exclusively in the Foxtel Cup and the company has been a major player in the recent surge in Women's football, developing a ball designed specifically for female players.
