WAFC welcomes stadium commitment

THE West Australian Football Commission welcomes today’s commitment by the State Government to the construction a new major stadium in Perth and strongly supports this exciting opportunity for WA football.

WAFC Chairman Frank Cooper said he was delighted by Premier Colin Barnett’s announcement that a new multi-purpose stadium would be constructed and congratulated the State Government for its commitment.

“This presents great opportunities for football at all levels in Western Australia and is an exciting step forward for the future of our game in this State,” Mr Cooper said.

“We look forward to working closely with the State Government going forward to achieve the best outcomes for the fans, the players and everyone else involved in football at all levels.

“We are also keen to progress the details of the arrangements at a new stadium to ensure football can continue to deliver its wide range of community benefits,” he said.

The WAFC currently derives 80% of its income from its lease on Patersons Stadium and the Eagles and Dockers licenses, which is used to grow, promote and develop the game at all levels across WA.
