WA North West start with a big win

WA North West kicked off the NAB AFL National 16s Championships with a convincing win over South Pacific at Blacktown International Sportsparkon Sunday, July 8.

WA North West's next game is against the World XV111 on Wednesday, July 11 at 6pm. The World XV111 defeated the Flying Boomerangs by 19 pts on Sunday.

The newly formed WA North West side is competing in Division 3 of the Championships, while WA’s State 16s are playing in Division 1, seeing WA represented in two divisions for the first time this year.

WA North West, which includes players from the Kimberley, Pilbara, and Gascoyne regions, was formed this year by the West Australian Football Commission with the support of the AFL, in partnership with the V-Swans program and Garnduwa.

The North West program is being run as part of the WA State Talent Academy, providing an exciting opportunity for the players to have direct access to an elite development experience and compete at the National Championships.
