A TOTAL of 25 West Australians have been drafted to AFL clubs after another 10 players were rookie-listed in today's (December 15) AFL rookie draft.
This follows the selection of 13 WA players in last month's AFL National Draft, while two more were added to senior AFL lists in this morning's pre-season draft.
West Coast went for South Fremantle's Ashton Hams (pictured), 23, who was best on ground in the WAFL grand final, West Perth's Andrew Strijk, 22, former Richmond midfielder Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls, 21, and Claremont teenager Lewis Broome, who was best on ground in the WAFL colts grand final.Perth's Jarrad Kayler-Thomson, 24, was picked up by Hawthorn, Essendon selected Peel's Ben Howlett, 21, and Carlton chose Subiaco's Simon White, 21.
St Kilda selected WA's State 18s captain Mark Hutchings and Carlton rewarded West Perth ruckman Josh Donaldson, while Hawthorn also gave former West Perth and Western Bulldogs defender Wayde Skipper another chance
Fremantle added one of the game's most famous surnames to their list with Alex Silvagni, the nephew of former Carlton champion Stephen, selected with pick 24, while Werribee's Michael Barlow also joins Fremantle.
