THE West Australian Country Football League’s CBH Colts team and WA
State 16s are set to meet at Fremantle Oval this Friday for a hit-out between
the best young talent from around the State.
It will be the second contest this season for the CBH Colts following their narrow four-point loss to the West Australian Amateur Football League Colts in a thrilling finish at Fremantle Oval in May.
This Friday’s game, which kicks off at 5.30pm, will also be an opportunity for the State 16s to ramp up preparations ahead of next month’s NAB AFL 16s Championships in Sydney.
The championships will be played from July 4 to 11 as the first event held at the new $40m Sporting and Football complex in Blacktown.
The final team to participate at the Championships will be selected from the State 16s Academy and could include young guns such as Tom Mitchell, Jordan Lockyer and Fraser McInnes, who are all set to line up for the 16s on Friday.
The two top Division One teams from the Championships will play a curtain-raiser to the AFL Grand Final at the MCG in September, which WA reached last year but lost by seven points to Victoria Metro.
