WAAFL Colts’ Squad completed its 10 week programme in a curtain raiser game at Subiaco Oval against the WA State 16’s with a 7 point loss 12-10 (82) to 11-9 (75) last Sunday 13th July. The game was played in good spirit and a high level of skills & discipline were put on display. WA 16’s got off the mark quickly with 2 goals. With some miss-matches sorted out in the backline the back six then settled and played as a cohesive unit for the rest of the game, kerbing the dominance of the WA 16’s forwards who looked dangerous every time they went forward. Players such as Chris Vigor, Ryan Power, Tim Radcliffe & Josh Pauly working hard The mid-field players worked hard to produce quality ball to our forwards with Luke Richards kicking 4 goals which could have been 6 or 7 if not for inaccurate kicking. Matt Tate, Luke Conca, Eric Preedy & Brock Higgins all chipping in with goals also. The last quarter saw the WAAFL players storm home only to fall just short of a win over the WA 16’s, who were highly skilled and disciplined throughout the game. The WAAFL players did the amateur league and themselves proud with their efforts. The Player voted man of the match for the WAAFL 19’s was Craig Looby with other best players – Daniel Allsop, Matt Tate, Kempton Sing, Luke Richards, Ryan Power & Scott Wolfendon. Over the past 10 weeks the player group has conducted itself in a professional manner and the entire group has developed over the course of the programme. I thank them and their clubs for their commitment to the programme. Andrew Leinasars WAAFL Colts Coach |
