Colin Bettles from Scarborough Amateur Football Club will become the club’s games record holder this weekend (5th July) when he plays his 314th game in a career spanning some 20 years. Colin started playing with Scarborough way back in 1988 under colts’ coach Roy Scheltens and his involvement since then has involved coaching, Vice President, social committee as well as sponsorship. |

Melville reserves coach Shane Brown will live out a dream when he runs onto Telstra Dome next Tuesday (July 1) as part of the annual EJ Whitten Legends game between Victoria and the All Stars. The 43-year-old was one of two winners from a national competition aimed at finding a participant for each of the Victorian and All Star teams. The 100-game player, who injured his back in 1987 and was told in 1991 that he’d never play football again (before kicking 100 goals the next season), will be coached by Neale Daniher and play alongside the likes of game legends Richard Champion, Mark Bickley and Mark Ricciuto. |

The Keystart Home Loans Match of the Week will feature C Grade combatants Bassendean and Kinglsey at Jubilee Reserve. Both teams currently sit in the top five and will see this game as a good test of character against a fellow finals contender. Bassendean went into the 2008 season with the simple goal of being competitive across all grades after a disappointing 2007 campaign. Numbers are strong and all teams have a full list to select from which has League, Reserves, Colts and Thirds fighting for finals. |
