East Fremantle Year 8/9 School Girls Cup

Friday November 9 saw 12 Teams from nine schools participate in the East Fremantle Year 8/9 School Girls Cup.

With teams from Applecross, All Saints College, Corpus Christi, Carey BC, Winthrop, Ellenbrook, Peter Carnley, and regional schools Northam and Pinjarra.

Claremont District Year 8/9 School Girls Cup Carnival

The Claremont District held its annual Yr 8/9 School Girls Cup Carnival at College Park in Claremont on Friday November 9.

Seven teams competed in the carnival with two teams each from Churchlands SHS, Shenton College and Perth Modern School and a team from Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC).

It was the first time PLC competed in the carnival and they did an outstanding job winning four of their six matches.

Shenton College (2) were the eventual winners of the carnival however all games were extremely close with no margin greater than four goals.

New migrants enjoy Freo House Footy

The Swans District recently delivered a program to new migrants in the Intensive English Course (IEC) at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus in Bassendean.

The six-week program, which has been dubbed 'Altair Swans', meaning 'bright star' in Arabic, provides new migrants with a basic introduction to the AFL and is geared towards supporting the development of pathways for new migrants to junior community clubs.

The West Australian Football Commission is offering free Professional Development sessions to all teachers and tertiary education students in Term 4, 2012.

Registration is essential for all sessions, which cover a range of topics aimed at AFL School Ambassadors and engaging students with learning through football.

Darling Range Sports College Claim WAFC Year 8/9 Schoolboys Crown!

Trinity College’s domination of the WAFC Year 8/9 Schoolboys Cup came to end last Thursday afternoon at the hands of a determined Darling Range Sports College. In what has been described as one of the best games of Schoolboys football seen in recent times Darling Range came away victorious by 5 points. The contest was played at a frantic pace throughout with the margin never being more than two goals for the duration of the game. With scores level at three quarter time the game hung in the balance. The deadlock was broken with only 90 seconds left on the clock. In the end Darling Range hung on for a memorable victory. Final scores were Darling Range Sports College 6.8.44 def Trinity College 5.9.39
