Receiving a pass from Fremantle forward Chris Tarrant brought a big smile to the face of Jessica Butler at the 150th Major Schools Event at Langley Park last Thursday, May 8.

The Year 6 student from Ashdale Primary School proved that girls love their football just as much as boys when she was among 1500 school children at the event designed to celebrate the 150th year of Australian Football.

As an avid Fremantle supporter, Jessica is a little disappointed about how the Dockers season is going, but didn’t appear too worried when her football was retrieved by Tarrant on the Perth foreshore.

“I play football at recess and lunch time along with many other girls at school,” Jessica said.

Jessica and 60 of her Year 6 and 7 schoolfriends had a great time at the event, as did Fremantle midfielder Byron Schammer.

“It’s always good to get out and give a bit back to the kids. I was in that situation once as a youngster so to be able to do this is great.”

The 150 years anniversary of Australian Football school event also focused on the 1seven program which talks about need for one hour of exercise and seven serves of fruits and vegetables per day, supported by Medibank Private.
