AFLSportsReady Cup Jakovich Division Premiers

Warwick SHS and Mandurah Catholic College competed in the AFL SportsReady Cup Jakovich Division Grand Final in front of a large crowd and in perfect conditions.

The grand final was played at frantic pace and described as one of the most skillful games of school boy’s football seen in recent times. In the end it was Mandurah Catholic College, pictured, who overcame a persistent Warwick SHS by 23 points.

Competition Patron, former West Coast Eagles Champion Glen Jakovich, and AFL SportsReady General Manager Colin West, were on hand to present the AFL SportsReady Cup and medallions to the players, coaches and umpires.

Jayden Caratti (Mandurah ) and Aaron Summers (Warwick) were awarded the match balls post game as recognition for being their schools best players in the grand final.

WAFC Schools Competitions Manager Clayton Anderson said The West Australian Football Commission greatly appreciated the support received from all participating schools, AFL SportsReady and School Sport WA.

"I would also like to sincerely thank those teachers who gave up their time to coach a school football team in the competition. As part of the WAFC’s continued efforts to promote Schoolboys football, The AFL SportsReady Cup “Cable” Division Grand Final match will be played as the post-match fixture to the West Coast v Brisbane game on Sunday July 29, with CBC Fremantle defending their crown against Clontarf AC,” he said .
