2012 Coles AFL School Ambassador of the Year Awards

The 2012 Coles AFL School Ambassador of the Year Awards will be presented at Patersons Stadium in August to recognise teachers who have excelled in enhancing learning and promoting physical activity through AFL programs in WA schools during 2012.

This year recognition will also be given to Coles AFL School Ambassadors who exhibited best practice over 5 or more years.

The AFL School Ambassador (AFLSA) program was introduced into WA schools in 2004. It aims to improve literacy, numeracy, health and physical education outcomes by providing AFL resources to schools as well as recognising and rewarding teachers who strongly promote our game in their school and community.

Coles AFLSA Long-Service Award

Most Outstanding Primary Coles AFL School Ambassador
(Term 4, 2011 to Term 3, 2012 only)

Most Outstanding Secondary Coles AFL School Ambassador
(Term 4, 2011 to Term 3, 2012 only)

Outstanding First Year Coles AFL School Ambassador
(Nominee to be in first year as a Coles AFL School Ambassador)

Outstanding Indigenous AFL Program
(successful engagement of indigenous students in AFL activities in 2012)

Outstanding Female AFL Program
(successful engagement of female students in AFL activities in 2012)

Outstanding Multicultural AFL Program
(successful engagement of multicultural students in AFL activities in 2012)

NOMINATION PROCESS

The nominating adult is to describe, in 300 – 500 words, evidence of the outstanding contribution the Coles AFLSA has made to Australian Football in WA, on the Official Nomination Form.

NOTE: AFLSAs can be nominated for ONE category only. The first nomination only will be considered.

All nominations submitted by 5pm, Thursday, July 12 and fulfilling the set criteria will be collated by Sharon Wilson, Education Manager, West Australian Football Commission (WAFC).

The WAFC Panel will select the finalists (max 5 per category) and the State Judging Panel will select the Category winners.

All finalists will be invited to the Awards Ceremony at Patersons Stadium on FRIDAY 17th AUGUST 2012, where the winners will be announced.

Essential criteria to be included:

  • Minimum of ONE NEW initiative implemented in their school in 2012 in literacy, numeracy, Phys.Ed. and/or health.
  • List and/or description of participation in WAFC, District, Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles Football Clubs programs and competitions, subject to availability, eligibility and access.
  • Evidence of positive contribution to school and aligned junior/senior community football club/s.
  • Year of Induction.
  • Head and chest photo of nominee in their Coles AFLSA shirt.
