West Perth jumpers arrive in the nick of time

WITHIN minutes of the Winter Football Carnival commencing, Eddystone Primary School received an unexpected surprise from the West Perth Football Club with the supply of a new set of jumpers for the school footy teams.

The West Perth Football Club partnering with Kambos Electricals generously donated the jumpers to replace the previous set. With students playing in the same jumpers for in excess of 15 years the long awaited football jumpers featuring the famous falcon and the glorious colours of red and blue arrived just in time for the first bounce down.

“Our students were very excited at slipping into their new Guernseys as they ran onto the football field,” said principal, Paul Biemmi. “Eddystone Primary school’s colours are also Red and Blue and the school has a long history of involvement with the West Perth Football Club.”

“Our community, and especially our P&C, sincerely wish to acknowledge and thank West Perth Football club and Kambos for their tremendous support.”

“We were all chuffed that our Deputy, Mr Glen Bewick, was able to organise this through West Perth with the support of West Perth CEO Gerry O’Dea.” Mr Biemmi said.

This year an Intensive English Centre was established at Eddystone Primary School. Some of these students, new to Australia and to football, also participated in the football game at the winter carnival. All the students looked fantastic in their new gear as they ran onto the field.

The football jumpers will be officially handed over at school assembly on August 6, 2010, with Smarter than Smoking West Perth District Manager, Andrew Ridley attending to present the jumpers in front of over 200 students and parents.
