AFL Female talent search heads to Perth Thursday, January 28, 2016 - 1:36 PM

The AFL’s female talent search campaign heads to Western Australia this weekend with a session at Trinity College from 8am to 1.30pm on Saturday January 30.

The talent search, which kicked off in Victoria last Saturday, January 23 at Whitten Oval, will see similar sessions conducted across Australia to seek new talent amongst athletes who are not currently registered as Australian football players.

The AFL has partnered with Rookie Me to conduct the athletic testing.

Athletes will experience testing similar to the AFL Draft Combine including standing and running vertical jumps, agility, 20m sprint and the shuttle run (beep test).

Participants will then get an opportunity to demonstrate their football skills in an afternoon session, as well as showcasing their decision making, spatial awareness and appetite to compete.

Athletes who display skills and athleticism suited to Australian Football will be invited to join established High Performance Academies in each state to help fast-track their development.
