Female AFL set to BOOM in 2016Thursday, January 21, 2016 - 3:58 PM

The 2016 season for Australia’s fastest growing female sport is approaching and new players are encouraged to register now! 

In 2015 there were 284,000 AFL female participants nationwide making up 23% of all participation with 629 dedicated female teams, 263 of which were club based teams.

Last year in Western Australia alone there were over 49,000 females participating in football.

With the National Female AFL competition scheduled to launch in 2017, this year promises to be one of the biggest and most exciting years ever for aspiring female footballers.

The WA Football Commission has set some ambitious targets to almost double the number of female dedicated club teams from 84 to 160 in Metro and Regional WA in 2016.
