Nutrien Ag Solutions Women’s Country Football Championship kicks off in Bunbury this weekWednesday, October 1, 2025 - 9:26 AM - by Jordan McArdle

South West Football League will be looking for a remarkable sixth consecutive Nutrien Ag Solutions Women’s Country Football Championship in a row at Bunbury’s Hands Oval this week.

For the first time ever, Bunbury will host the tournament as the premier female country footballers from all over the State compete in the two-day tournament.

South West battle it out against last season’s grand finalists Peel Football Netball League, who went through undefeated until the decider, in Division One alongside Great Northern and the newly-promoted Great Southern who took out Division Two last year.

In Division Two, Kimberley, Esperance, North Pilbara and Goldfields go head-to-head in the hope of earning promotion to the top tier.

All up there will be 16 games across two days, with pool clashes across Thursday and Friday before finals and play-offs action in the afternoon of day two.

The Division Two decider is on at 4pm on Friday before the Division One finale at 6pm in what’s set to be a blockbuster finish to the carnival under lights at Hands Oval.

The Longest Kick and Sprint competitions will provide added spectacles to an already action-packed schedule, with heats on the opening day followed by finals on day two.

“We’re delighted to bring the Nutrien Ag Solutions Women’s Country Football Championships to regional WA, with Bunbury hosting the tournament for the first time,” Country Football WA’s Country Competitions Manager Brent Sheridan said.

“It’s an excellent celebration of women’s country football in our State and a perfect way to cap off a massive season of women’s footy across our regions.

“Bunbury’s Hands Oval is a fantastic centrepiece for two days of hotly-contested action, featuring eight teams across two divisions.

“There’s going to be plenty of talent on display including New Holland State Country Team representatives as well as ex-AFLW and WAFLW players and regional rising stars.

"We're incredibly grateful for the City of Bunbury's support in helping bring the championship to Bunbury for the first time."

For those who can’t attend the matches in Bunbury, all games will be streamed live and free on Streamer.com.au.
