Tigers and Sharks in KununurraWednesday, June 26, 2013 - 12:55 PM

Claremont and East Fremantle will clash in Kununurra on Saturday, June 29 under the State Government's Country Sports Enrichment Scheme.

The game will be the 44th played under the CSES, which commenced in 1999 with games in Exmouth and Moora as part of a disaster relief response to a cyclone and flooding in each town.

Additional funding has been committed  by Sports Minister Hon Terry Waldron to make the Kununurra game possible this year.

Live updates from the game can be found by visiting the Game Day Live section of the www.wafl.com.au website.

Alternatively, ABC 720 and 990AM Information Radio will be providing regular updates during their respective broadcasts of other WAFL games this weekend.

The Kununurra game will be the second ever played in the town after Swan Districts defeated Subiaco in 2000 prior to the area becoming part of Claremont’s regional zone.

The last game in the Kimberley region was played at Broome in 2006 when Claremont defeated Swan Districts.

This year’s game at Kununurra is being hosted by the East Kimberley Football League (EKFL), which is one of three leagues in the Kimberley region along with the West and Central Kimberley Football Leagues.

The Kimberley also has 30 Auskick centres catering for more than 1000 kids aged 5-9 years.

Garnduwa plays an important role in the delivery of the region’s football development and talent programs in partnership with the WAFC and AFL.
