New Era For Junior Football in WA RegionsMonday, November 27, 2023 - 3:13 PM

An exciting new era will be launched before next season with Country Football WA to support junior football in the regions.

CFWA will oversee all WA Country Football from junior boys and girls to seniors.

An organisational restructure means a newly elected board comprising of representatives from junior and senior leagues will provide a voice for all football in regional WA.

Acquiring junior football by the CFWA will see an increase in members to approximately 24,000, up from the current 12,000.

The move aligns all levels of football in WA to assist the current staffing structure to better support our volunteer run clubs and leagues, reducing the existing duplication of administration tasks and create direct lines of communication.

Incoming CFWA President Brendon Simpson has explained the significance of the change.

“The recent major governance reform that now sees Country Football WA overseeing the entire football pathway from Auskick to Seniors allows better support and future funding to ensure football thrives in the regions,” he said.

“The new model aligns with the West Australian Football Commission’s regional staffing model and aims to streamline volunteer workload.”

“This one all-of-regional-football model provides potential corporate partners with a footprint of around 27,000 participants plus their families and extended networks.”

The ability to bring all of country football in WA together is considered crucial.

“Initially, our Commercial team will be working hard to promote the benefits of this WA-wide footprint, and this will provide much needed funding to allow CFWA to further support leagues with resources,” Simpson said.

CFWA aims to sustain and enhance football in country WA by fostering stronger football pathways, providing accredited training, assisting with the retention of coaches, players and volunteers, enhancing umpire relationships and working to ensure clubs have the best quality clubhouses and facilities for all levels of football.
