WAFLW Team of the Week – Round 11Thursday, May 5, 2022 - 12:05 AM - by Chris Pike

EAST Fremantle won big in Northampton in Round 11 of the WAFLW to stay undefeated with Ashlee Atkins among their stars while Tarnica Golisano racked up 29 possessions for Subiaco and debutant Tamzyn Beros was among the standouts for Swan Districts.

The Round 11 results saw East Fremantle travel to Northampton and maintain their undefeated season with the impressive 7.6 (48) to 3.4 (22) victory against Claremont.

Also on Saturday, Subiaco kept itself in the finals hunt with an 8.12 (60) to 2.1 (13) victory against South Fremantle at Leederville Oval.

The round then wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with Swan Districts beating West Perth 10.8 (68) to 2.3 (15) at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium.

The Round 11 results in the WAFLW competition leave East Fremantle on top of the ladder with a perfect 9-0 record.

Claremont remains hot on their heels at 7-2 with Swan Districts improving to third position at 5-4 with Peel Thunder rounding out the top four at 4-4.

Just outside the top four is South Fremantle at 3-6 ahead of Subiaco (3-6) and West Perth (0-9).

It all leads to another fascinating round to come this weekend for Round 12 with two games on Saturday which sees Swan Districts play Claremont at Steel Blue Oval and East Fremantle take on Peel Thunder at the WACA Ground.

Then on Sunday afternoon at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium, West Perth hosts South Fremantle.

Each week of the WAFLW season during 2022, we will be selecting a Team of the Week as well, and here's how the side for Round 11 came together.

East Fremantle beat Claremont in Northampton to remain undefeated and once again Alex Williams was outstanding down back for the Sharks. She finished with nine disposals, three tackles and two marks to be named to the Team of the Week for a sixth time already in 2022.

Hayley O'Donnell was also named to the half-back flank after playing her part in Saturday's win for East Fremantle against Claremont with eight possessions and three tackles as part of a terrific defensive unit.

Georgie Cleaver was named to the forward-line in the Team of the Week on the back of kicking two goals from 11 possessions, six hit outs, four tackles and four marks for East Fremantle.

Lauren Catherine produced another impressive performance in the ruck for East Fremantle with eight disposals, 34 hit outs, three marks and two tackles to be named to the Team of the Week for a fourth time in 2022.

Ashlee Atkins earned a spot in the Team of the Week for the first time after being another star performer in the win over Claremont for the Sharks. She finished with 20 possessions, six inside 50s, five marks and four tackles.

Claremont might have suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday in Northampton but Paige Hamilton-Smith produced a strong performance to be named at half-back in the Team of the Week after a tremendous impressive defensive performance.

Kate Orme earned a spot in the wing of the Team of the Week for a fifth time this season after she put up another performance of 16 possessions, three marks three inside-50 entries and a goal for Claremont in Northampton on Saturday.

Jasmin Stewart earned a spot in the team for a spot for the second straight week on the back of finishing Saturday's game for Claremont against East Fremantle with 17 possessions, three tackles and two inside-50 entries.

Subiaco got back on the winning list at the expense of South Fremantle on Saturday at Leederville Oval with Maddie Dodd tremendous in the back-line to earn a spot in the Team of the Week for her performance that included 10 possessions and two marks.

Tarnica Golisano was brilliant for Subiaco and was named to the centre position in the Team of the Week on the back of delivering 29 touches, six inside 50s, five tackles and two marks in the win against South Fremantle.

Abbey Dowrick continued her impressive form for the Lions as well and she booked in the centre half-forward position on the back of a game made up of 27 disposals, eight tackles, six inside-50 entries and five marks.

Maggie MacLachlan was brilliant up forward for the Lions too in the win over the Bulldogs kicking four goals from 21 disposals and four inside-50 entries to book a spot in the Team of the Week.

Madizen Wilkins was also named on the interchange in the Team of the Week from Subiaco after finishing Saturday's win against the Bulldogs with 19 possessions and five tackles.

Molly O'Hehir was named to the Team of the Week for a third time over the past five rounds after another tremendous performance for South Fremantle down back. She was named to centre half-back on the back of 24 disposals, three tackles, two marks and two inside 50s.

Lauren Wakfer was back in the South Fremantle line-up as well and booked in a position in the ruck to be named to the Team of the Week for a sixth time during the 2022 season. She finished with 14 touches, 20 hit outs, five tackles, two marks and two inside 50s.

Demi Liddle earned a spot in the Team of the Week for the first time this season and was named on the wing after producing 16 possessions, five marks, three tackles and a goal in Swan Districts' win against West Perth on Sunday.

Ashley Sharp kicked another two goals from nine kicks for Swans on Sunday as well against the Falcons to see hear earn a spot in the Team of the Week for a fourth time in 2022.

Courtney Zappara continued her strong form as well for the black-and-whites to be named to a half-forward flank. She had a game on Sunday made up of two goals along with 16 disposals, two tackles and two entries inside the forward 50.

Jaime Henry was named in the midfield for the Team of the Week for Round 11 after starring for Swan Districts with 28 touches, seven inside 50s, five tackles and two marks.

Tamzyn Beros put together quite the impressive WAFLW league debut as well on Sunday and was named to the Team of the Week as a result after finishing the afternoon with 10 touches, five tackles, four marks and two goals.

Abbygail Bushby returned to the Swan Districts line-up too and earned a spot in the Team of the Week for a second time in the 2022 season after she had 26 disposals and six inside 50s in the win against West Perth.
