2021 Optus WAFLW Grand Final venue confirmed Tuesday, June 15, 2021 - 5:56 PM

The Optus WAFLW Grand Final will head south in 2021 with David Grays Arena, home of the Peel Thunder Football Club, confirmed to host the decider.

The game will be played on the weekend of July 3/4, with the date and time to be finalised pending the confirmation of AFL fixtures and broadcast times.

A venue was selected following a competitive tender process across all clubs, with a strong consideration given to family-friendly activations, community promotion and match-day facilities.

The WAFC took into consideration the opportunity to rotate the Optus WAFLW Grand Final, with Provident Financial Oval and Mineral Resources Park hosting the past two deciders.

WAFC Executive Manager - WAFL & Talent Scott Baker said the WAFC was thrilled to be hosting the game in Mandurah, allowing for the entire community to attend and support the event.

“Taking the premier women’s fixture of the year down to Mandurah is another exciting step for the WAFLW competition,” Baker said.

“Peel Thunder have embraced women’s football for a number of years, creating a really inclusive football culture within their club.

“The club has regularly included women’s fixtures in their overall WAFL match-day and have also produced a number of gifted players across the AFLW, WAFLW and WA Talent Programs.”

“We are really excited to support Peel and the City of Mandurah to create a memorable event for all players, clubs and spectators.”

“The Grand Finalists of the Simply Energy Rogers Cup, Reserves and Optus WAFLW League will all play at David Grays Arena, with times to be confirmed in the coming weeks.”

Peel Thunder CEO Paul Lekias said the club was excited to host the event and looked forward to working with the WAFC to deliver an event fitting of the occasion.

“This is a great opportunity for our club to showcase our fantastic facility and continue to promote and grow female football in Western Australia,” Lekias said.

“Alongside the WAFC and the City of Mandurah, we will partner to deliver a first-class event for the competition."

“We encourage all people within the Peel region to get down to David Grays Arena in a couple of weeks’ time and support female football.”

The Optus WAFLW Grand Final will be broadcast live and free on the 7 Network.
