Optus WAFLW Grand Final venue confirmedMonday, September 7, 2020 - 1:23 PM

Provident Financial Oval, home of the West Perth Football Club, has been confirmed to host the 2020 Optus WAFL Women’s Grand Final.

The game will be played on the weekend of September 19/20, with the date and time to be finalised pending the confirmation of AFL and WAFL fixtures.

The venue was selected following a competitive tender process, with West Perth’s bid proving successful with a commitment to family-friendly activations, community promotion, food and beverage offerings, provision of function space and access to match-day facilities.

WAFC Executive Manager - WAFL & Football Operations Scott Baker said the WAFC was looking forward to hosting the game at Provident Financial Oval and building on last year’s marquee WAFLW event, which attracted more than 3,300 spectators.

“The inaugural WAFLW Grand Final was a great event and we want to make sure we can deliver another memorable day for all of the players, clubs and supporters who attend again in 2020,” he said.

“We expect there to be significant interest across the day’s play with up to six competing clubs in the Rogers Cup, Reserves and WAFLW Grand Finals.”

“It’s also great that West Perth Football Club will be able to receive some of the benefit of hosting the game, which has been made possible due to the September playing date allowing us to hire the venue directly from the club.”

West Perth Football Club CEO Joe McCarthy said the club was excited to host the event and looking forward to working with the WAFC to deliver a great day out.

“We have a great facility, which will showcase the WAFLW Grand Final and continue to grow the brand of female football in WA,” he said.

“We believe we now have a great working relationship with the WAFC and that this partnership will deliver a successful event.”

“The club would also like to thank VenuesWest for their ongoing support of our club.”

The WAFLW Grand Final will be broadcast live on the 7 Network.
