ROUND 6 in the Simply Energy Colts competition saw wins for Claremont, Swan Districts, Subiaco and West Perth on Saturday morning.

The 2019 season resumed on Saturday following the week's break and produced some fascinating results and some young talent continuing to shine at the same time.

All four games took place on Saturday morning starting at Claremont Oval with Claremont defeating Peel Thunder 10.8 (68) to 8.8 (56).

Swan Districts kept its undefeated start to the season going with a big win over East Fremantle 13.10 (88) to 3.4 (22) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval.

Reigning premiers Subiaco recorded its first win of the season beating South Fremantle 7.7 (49) to 5.7 (37) at Leederville Oval, and West Perth defeated Perth 12.10 (82) to 8.10 (58) at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park.

The results mean that after six rounds of the 2019 season, Swan Districts remains clear on top of the colts ladder with a perfect 6-0 record.

Peel Thunder (4-1) is in second position with West Perth (4-2), Perth (2-3) and Claremont (2-3) making up the top five.

East Perth (2-3) is just outside the top five ahead of East Fremantle (2-4), South Fremantle (1-4) and Subiaco (1-4).

CLAREMONT 10.8 (68) defeated PEEL THUNDER 8.8 (56)

Claremont handed Peel Thunder its first defeat of the colts season on Saturday at Claremont Oval, with the Tigers winning by 12 points.

Coming off a preliminary final appearance in 2018, Peel's colts began the 2019 season impressively with wins against West Perth, East Fremantle, Subiaco and East Perth heading into the State Game break.

Claremont had won just one of their opening four games, but the Tigers produced their best performance of the season at Claremont Oval on Saturday.

The Tigers started strongly with four scoring shots to one in the opening quarter to kick two goals to one and lead by eight points at the first break.

Peel produced a dominant second term with four goals to one and that saw the Thunder open up a 13-point advantage by half-time.

Peel maintained its control of the contest in the third term with two more goals to one to see the Thunder still lead the Tigers by 18 points at the final break.

But Claremont dominated the last quarter with some scintillating football piling on six goals to one to come away with the 10.8 (68) to 8.8 (56) victory.

Luke Knight produced a strong all-round showing for Claremont kicking three goals to go with 11 possessions and 18 hit outs while Jake Wilson also booted two goals.

Tom Baldwin racked up 22 possessions for the Tigers, Leno Thomas 21, Jack Cooley 20, Jye Clark 20, Joel Western 17, Louis Passera 16, Lachlan Davis 16 and Ronin O'Connor 15 along with laying 10 tackles and driving the ball inside-50 on six occasions.

Jonathon Ietto kicked two goals for Peel to go with 18 possessions and four tackles while Jaxon Egan also booted two majors.

Zac Rankin ended up collecting 22 possessions for the Thunder, Brad Oldfield 18, Robert Hutson 17, Killian Rawson 16 and Isiah Winder 15.
 


SWAN DISTRICTS 13.10 (88) defeated EAST FREMANTLE 3.4 (22)

Swan Districts remains the only undefeated team this WAFL colts season following a commanding 66-point victory against East Fremantle at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday morning.

On the back of winning its first five games of the season under new coach Simon Bergin after playing in last year's Grand Final, Swan Districts continued its momentum with a tremendous performance at Bassendean on Saturday against the Sharks.

Continuing on with the momentum from winning the opening five games of the season prior to last week's general bye for the WAFL State Game, Swans dominated the first quarter against the Sharks.

East Fremantle went scoreless in the opening term while Swan Districts had the only seven scoring shots, kicking three goals to lead by 22 points at quarter-time.

East Fremantle did manage to kick a goal in the second term but the Black Ducks added another two goals to head into half-time leading by 29 points.

It was more of the same in the third quarter with East Fremantle managing just the one behind and Swans kicking another three goals.

Then with five more goals to two in the final quarter, Swans went on to win the game 13.10 (88) to 3.4 (22) to improve to a perfect 6-0 record on the season while the Sharks are now 2-4 with the defeat.

Kade Wallrodt delivered a best on ground performance for Swan Districts finishing with 28 possessions, seven inside-50 entries, five tackles and three goals.

Ben Taylor also kicked three goals for the Black Ducks with Ryan Letessier, Jamison Ugle and Atem Deng all kicking two goals apiece as well.

Seb Bright gathered 27 disposals for Swans, Ethan Nordahl 25, Jak Watson 23, Brock Fisher 23, Kade Screaigh 22, Hudson Babich 20, Brenton Hilton 18 and Letessier 15 to go with 18 hit outs and the two goals.

Michael Wright worked valiantly for East Fremantle kicking two goals to go with 23 possessions and nine tackles.

Lachlan Taylor also gathered 22 disposals, Kody Eaton 15, Owen Dann 14 and Jack Carroll 14.
 


SUBIACO 7.7 (49) defeated SOUTH FREMANTLE 5.7 (37)

Subiaco is the reigning premiers in the colts competition and the Lions opened their account for the 2019 season on Saturday morning with a 12-point defeat of South Fremantle.

On the back of winning last year's premiership in the colts, Subiaco hadn’t got off to the ideal start to 2019 under new coach Chayce Creedy, losing their first four matches to East Perth, East Fremantle, Peel Thunder and Swan Districts.

Meanwhile, South Fremantle had won just one of its four matches over the opening five rounds under new coach Luke Tedesco as well leading into the general bye last week for the State Game.

South Fremantle got the better of the opening quarter on Saturday morning at Leederville Oval with the only three scoring shots and leading by nine points at the first break.

But Subiaco got into the contest during the third quarter kicking three goals to two from the Bulldogs as South Fremantle still led narrowly by two points at the half-time interval.

The Lions continued to build momentum through the third quarter with three more goals to one to lead by 11 points at three quarter-time.

It was then a goal apiece in the last term with Subiaco winning its first game of 2019, 7.7 (49) to 5.7 (37).

Chayse Grabe-Paparone kicked two goals from six kicks and five tackles to be Subiaco's only multiple goal scorer.

Subiaco had some monstrous ball winners for the game with Abraham Clinch leading the way with 43 possessions, six tackles, five marks and four inside-50 entries.

Ben Golding also racked up 39 disposals for the Lions, Jacob Peletier 38, Noah Ash 38, Isaac Clinch 24, Lachlan Vanirsen 17 and Sandon Page 17.

Lachlan Johnson had four shots on goal for South Fremantle from six kicks, and ended up kicking two goals.

Jack Musika gathered 26 possessions for the Bulldogs, Jaxon Bellchambers 21, Tyson Headland 20, Adam Correia 19 and Jacob Sax 19.

Solomon James battled hard in the ruck too for South Fremantle finishing with 12 touches and 41 hit outs.

 

PERTH 8.10 (58) lost to WEST PERTH 12.10 (82)

West Perth continued its impressive start to the colts season with a 24-point victory against Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park on Saturday morning.

West Perth came into the game on Saturday having won three of its opening five matches this colts season and the Falcons started strongly against the Demons, kicking four goals to two in the opening quarter to lead 13 points at quarter-time.

Perth hit back in the second term and kicked three goals to just one from West Perth and that led to the Falcons only holding a narrow one-point advantage at half-time.

The Falcons took back control in the third quarter holding the Demons goalless while kicking four goals themselves to hold a match-winning 24-point lead by three quarter-time.

West Perth went on with the job in the final term as well with both teams kicking three goals apiece. That saw the Falcons record the 12.10 (82) to 8.10 (58) victory.

The win improves West Perth to a 4-2 record on the season in third position while Perth sits fourth at 2-3.

Lachlan Rewell, Corey Rundle and Cooper Blackburn all ended up kicking two goals for West Perth in the 24-point win.

Tyron Hindmarsh was tremendous for the Falcons racking up 33 possessions while laying four tackles and driving the ball inside-50 on four occasions.

Callum Johnson gathered 24 disposals, Koopah Todd 22, Liam Martin 19 and Rohan Scurria 17.

Kaden Elliott and Owen McClelland kicked two goals apiece for Perth.

Simon Hayward racked up 31 possessions for the Demons, Bailey Smith 23, Tarkyn Brogan-Henry 19, Brodie Gray 18, Jayden Narrier 18, Jacob Radomiljac 17 and Kelvin Quartermaine 16.
