SUBIACO ended its three-game losing streak in the WAFL Colts in Round 10 on Saturday with wins also for Swan Districts, Peel Thunder and South Fremantle.

All four Round 10 matches took place on Saturday morning with Swan Districts, Peel Thunder and Subiaco all consolidating the top three positions on the colts ladder while South Fremantle stayed in touch with the top five.

The action got underway at Claremont Oval with Swan Districts beating Claremont 9.7 (61) to 8.8 (56).

Subiaco also defeated East Fremantle 14.11 (95) to 12.10 (82) at Leederville Oval while Peel Thunder beat West Perth 12.16 (88) to 8.6 (54) at Bendigo Bank Stadium and South Fremantle downed Perth 13.18 (96) to 4.5 (29) at Lathlain Park.

The Round 10 results see Swan Districts remain on top of the ladder in the colts with a 7-2 record. They are a game clear of Peel Thunder who also sit a game clear in second position at 6-3.

Only percentage then separates Subiaco (5-3), Perth (5-4) and East Fremantle (5-5).

South Fremantle (4-5) is just outside the top five ahead of West Perth (3-6), Claremont (3-6) and East Perth (2-6).

CLAREMONT v SWAN DISTRICTS

Swan Districts moved a game clear on top of the colts ladder with a five-point victory against Claremont at Claremont Oval on Saturday.

Swan Districts made the trip to Claremont Oval against the perennially strong Claremont team who have played in the past five colts Grand Finals, but the black-and-whites built on their momentum to maintain top position.

On the back of last Saturday's 44-point win against Perth at Steel Blue Oval, Swans again prevailed over the Tigers on Saturday but it was a tight affair.

Claremont did start strongly too to give Swan Districts plenty of work to do. The Tigers kicked four goals to one in the opening quarter and then still were up by 15 points at half-time.

But Swan Districts came out a different outfit in the third term kicking four goals to nil to take a 10-point lead into three quarter-time. Claremont responded with three goals to two in the last term but Swans still held on for the 9.7 (61) to 8.8 (56) victory.

The win improves Swan Districts to a 7-2 record on the season to sit a game clear on top of the colts ladder. Claremont remains eighth at 3-6.

Jarrod Brockbernd kicked two goals from eight kicks and eight tackles for Swan Districts.

Mitchell Bain gathered 25 possessions for Swans while laying seven tackles with Sebastian Bright picking up 19 disposals, Jackson Beck 15 (six tackles), Brenton Hilton 15 (five marks, four tackles) and Kade Wallrodt 15 (nine tackles, eight marks).

Ben Schuhkraft kicked three goals from seven kicks and four marks for Claremont.

Corey Hitchcock racked up 26 possessions for the Tigers, Thomas Baldwin 25, Max Grant 24, Isaac Barton 22, Oliver Henderson 19, Nathan Pearce 17, Jacob Dorsett-Sawyer 17 and Jordon Reid 15 along with 22 hit outs.

 

PEEL THUNDER v WEST PERTH

Peel Thunder's colts retained second position on the ladder with a 34-point win against West Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

Peel came into the game on a four-game winning streak and continued that momentum with the 12.16 (88) to 8.6 (54) win in Mandurah.

The victory improves the Thunder to a 6-3 record on the season to sit a game clear in second position while the Falcons are now 3-6 in seventh spot.

It was a tight opening to the contest with Peel only leading by a point at quarter-time but the Thunder had extended that by half-time to 16 points after kicking three goals to just one from the Falcons.

West Perth stayed in touch during the third quarter with Peel's still just leading by 14 points at three quarter-time, but the Thunder controlled the last term with three goals to one to win by 34 points.

Lachlan Cullen kicked four goals for Peel from seven kicks and six marks.

James Sturrock racked up 36 possessions for the Thunder to go with nine marks, eight tackles and six inside-50 entries.

Jackson Perry also had 27 disposals, Jacob Hewitt 20, Jarvis Pina 17, Andrew Butler 16, Cameron Gavin 15 and Jack Sears 15.

Billy Chambers did well in the ruck too with 13 touches, four marks and 24 hit outs.

Callum Johnson booted three goals for West Perth and Lachlan Rewell two.

Nathan Murray gathered 25 possessions for the Falcons along with eight marks and five tackles.

Ben Johnson also picked up 23 disposals, Brayden Templeton 22, Graham Richards 18, Henry Ryan 18, Jaxon Prior 17 and Alec Johnson 17.

 

PERTH v SOUTH FREMANTLE

South Fremantle colts retained touch with the top five following a thumping 67-point victory against Perth at Lathlain Park on Saturday.

With Perth missing some important players due to WA State 18s duties, South Fremantle's colts were able to take full advantage and put together some of their more impressive form of the 2018 despite coming off just a five-day break.

South Fremantle's colts had lost to East Fremantle by 14 points at home on WA Day while Perth had also struggled last Saturday losing to Swan Districts by 44 points.

Then Perth didn’t manage a single score in the first quarter back at home on Saturday while South Fremantle kicked two goals. It was another five goals to two for the Bulldogs in the second quarter to lead by 35 points at the main break.

South Fremantle then further kicked away in the last term with four goals to one to claim the 13.18 (96) to 4.5 (29) victory.

Luke Moore was the star of the game for South Fremantle kicking seven goals from 13 possessions and seven marks. Lachlan Feeney also booted three goals for the Bulldogs.

Tom Blechynden picked up 20 possessions for South Fremantle, Enrique Aiken-Featherstone 19, Jack Musika 15, James Russell 15, Matthew Ward 15 and Thomas Weston 15 to go with 15 hit outs.

Connor Sing, Bailey Smith, Elijah Taylor and Mack Hall were the goal scorers for Perth.

Zac Casey racked up 29 possessions for the Demons to go with eight tackles while Sing picked up 19 disposals, Simon Hayward 19 and Austin Davis 19.

 

SUBIACO v EAST FREMANTLE

Subiaco's colts returned to the winner's list on Saturday with a 13-point victory over East Fremantle at Leederville Oval.

The Lions started the 2018 colts season on fire winning their opening five games before suffering three consecutive losses to West Perth, Peel Thunder and Perth.

But they hit back on Saturday on home turf against the Sharks coming away with the 14.11 (95) to 12.10 (82) victory.

East Fremantle started well to lead by four points at quarter-time but Subiaco responded with five goals to three in the second term to be up by nine points at the long break.

The Sharks again hit back in the third stanza with three goals to one to be up by 10 points heading into the fourth term, but it was there where the Lions piled on six goals to three for the eventual 13-point triumph.

Jack Mayo delivered an impressive performance in attack for Subiaco by kicking six goals from 13 possessions and seven marks.

Taj Schofield also kicked two goals from 24 disposals, six inside 50s and four tackles.

Liam Hickmott racked up 32 possessions for the Lions, Tristan Hobley 28, Zane Shellabear Healey 24, Ben Golding 20, Christian Miller-Sabbioni 19, Nathan French 15 and Jake McKinnon 15 to go with seven tackles.

Ethan Brown kicked two goals for East Fremantle from seven kicks.

Trent Rivers gathered 22 possessions for the Sharks, Corey Robinson 20, Tom Monaghan 18, Tom Wright 15, Dane Jenzen 15, Zac Wilkinson 15 and Nick Watson 14 along with six marks and 20 hit outs.
