SUBIACO has surged clear on top of the WAFL ladder celebrating captain Kyal Horsley's 150th game with a big win over South Fremantle on Saturday while Peel Thunder, Perth and East Perth were also victorious.
All eyes were on Leederville Oval for the top-of-the-table WAFL clash on Saturday and it is Subiaco who ends Round 9 of the 2017 season a game clear in top spot.
The Lions have played in the last three grand finals for two premierships and on Saturday made a statement beating South Fremantle 19.13 (127) to 14.4 (88) to replace them on top of the ladder having now won seven straight matches.
Reigning premiers Peel Thunder also won a second straight match to improve to a 4-4 record on the season beating Swan Districts 12.12 (84) to 9.9 (63) at Bendigo Bank Stadium.
Perth won its second game of the season in thrilling fashion at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. The Demons were in control most of the afternoon until Claremont got rolling in the fourth term and took the lead in the dying stages.
However, Perth kicked again and with goals to Kristian Morisey and Brennan Stack beyond the 30-minute mark, took the 13.9 (87) to 11.13 (79) victory over the Tigers.
East Perth made it three wins on the trot after starting the season losing five straight with an emphatic 20.22 (142) to 7.13 (55) victory over the still winless East Fremantle at East Fremantle Oval.
