WAFL Round 8 match reportsSunday, May 7, 2017 - 9:53 AM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle and Subiaco delivered two emphatic performances in Round 8 on Saturday setting up next week's top-of-the-table clash with West Perth and Peel Thunder also scoring strong victories.

All four WAFL Round 8 matches took place on Saturday afternoon with Subiaco winning its sixth straight match, beating Swan Districts 15.19 (109) to 6.9 (45) at Steel Blue Oval.

South Fremantle won its fifth match in succession as well to retain top spot on the ladder beating Perth 22.14 (146) to 13.8 (86) at Lathlain Park.

That sets up a tantalising contest next Saturday at Leederville Oval with top spot up for grabs when Subiaco hosts South Fremantle. Both teams enter the clash with 6-1 records.

West Perth continued its good form too recording a fourth successive victory beating the still winless East Fremantle 19.18 (132) to 15.7 (97) at East Fremantle Oval to spoil the 150-game celebrations of Sharks veteran Andrew Stephen.

Peel Thunder ended a four-game losing streak by beating Claremont 12.6 (78) to 8.7 (55) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. The Tigers have now lost four straight after starting the season with three wins.
