MICHAEL Barlow and Ashton Hams revelled in the stormy conditions in WAFL Round 10 action on Saturday with 40-plus disposals in wins for Peel Thunder and South Fremantle but there were plenty of other standout performers as well.

South Fremantle and Swan Districts played in the best of the conditions of the day and the scoreboard at Steel Blue Oval reflected that with the Bulldogs beating Swans 19.12 (126) to 12.7 (79).

West Perth won a fourth straight match defeating Subiaco 11.11 (77) to 7.9 (51) at Medibank Stadium and East Fremantle also won its fourth game in succession beating Claremont 6.17 (53) to 7.6 (48) at the Claremont Showground.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MICHAEL BARLOW
It would be hard to imagine a more dominant individual performance in tough conditions than what Michael Barlow delivered in Peel's win over East Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.

The veteran of 120 games in the AFL with Fremantle has responded in style to being dropped by the Dockers firstly having 39 possessions in a loss to South Fremantle, and now his performance against East Perth was remarkable.

In a game that featured a combined eight goals between the two teams, Barlow kicked three of them from the midfield for Peel to go with 44 possessions, including 26 kicks, 13 tackles and seven inside-50 entries.

The good news for the Thunder was that Barlow's performance led them to breaking a two-game losing streak to remain in fourth position on the ladder. The bad news is it will mean he's back in Fremantle's team in the AFL this week.

THE SHINING LIGHTS
Peel returned to the winner's list on Saturday in at times torrential conditions beating East Perth by 14 points in a low-scoring affair.

Not only did Barlow star with 44 possessions and three goals, but Peel got good service from plenty of other Fremantle-listed players desperate to break back into the Dockers' AFL team to make sure they are part of the future.

Tendai Mzungu finished with 29 possessions, eight tackles and six marks for the Thunder while Cameron Sutcliffe responded to being dropped this week with 25 disposals and seven marks.

Jack Hannath did well in the ruck up against both Jonathan Giles and Paul Johnson to end up with 16 touches, 19 hit outs and a goal.

Sam Collins was strong defensively for Peel ending up with 17 possessions and seven marks as well while Brady Grey gathered 19 disposals and Josh Deluca 18.

It wasn’t only the Fremantle players standing out for the Thunder with Brad Walsh working hard for 23 possessions while Rory O'Brien gathered 21 disposals and Brayden Lawler 17.

East Perth got off to a strong start with the first two goals of the game but kicked just one more the rest of the afternoon.

To make it worse the Royals lost co-captain Kyle Anderson to a broken leg with his fellow skipper Craig Wulff already out through injury after another veteran Garry Moss suffered a season-ending knee injury to start 2016.

East Perth kicked just three goals for the day with those coming courtesy of Brant Colledge, Jonathan Giles and Patrick McGinnity.

Mitch Fraser continued his strong season and without Wulff, Anderson and Moss he becomes one of the Royals' most experienced and important players with just 66 games under his belt. The small defender was terrific on Saturday and ended up recording 22 possessions and six marks.

Tom Barrass maintained his strong form as a key defender with 22 disposals and eight marks as well while fellow defender Nathan Blee finished with 20 touches.

Callum Hart made the most of his recall to the East Perth team collecting 20 possessions while McGinnity finished with 20 disposals, Kane Lucas 20, Corey Adamson 19, Paddy Brophy 19 and Fraser McInnes 19.

It is no coincidence that West Perth's form turnaround has gone hand in hand with key players returning from injury. Prior to the bye it was Shane Nelson and Kody Manning, and on Saturday Laine Rasmussen and Joe Morrow both came back strongly to be key players in the back-line.

Nelson was again outstanding in the midfield for West Perth with 35 possessions, six inside-50 entries and four tackles.

He got plenty of support with Rohan Kerr finishing with 25 disposals and two goals while Trent Manzone gathered 23 touches, Aaron Black 20, Aidan Lynch 19 (nine tackles) and Jay van Berlo 18.

Dean Munns continued his strong performances running with some of the league's best midfielders and held Leigh Kitchin to just the 11 possessions.

West Perth coach Bill Monaghan decided to go into the game without a recognised ruckman opting to play Drew Rohde in that role to try and limit the effectiveness of Subiaco's Lachlan Delahunty around the ground. Rohde worked hard in his unfamiliar role for 14 touches, seven tackles and 17 hit outs.

The Falcons back-line stood up strongly again with Luke Meadows terrific with another 24 possessions while Tyler Keitel had 21 touches while holding Clancy Wheeler goalless. Nick Rodda also did well keeping Hamish Shepheard to just the one goal and four kicks.

Kody Manning, Matt Johnson and Max Duffy all kicked two important goals each for West Perth.

Subiaco captain Kyal Horsley had a terrific day despite his team losing finishing with 34 possessions, five tackles, five inside-50 entries and a goal.

Lachlan Delahunty had another strong performance in the ruck and stints at centre half-forward with 24 possessions, 40 hit outs, six marks and five inside-50 entries.

Chris Phelan also worked hard for 26 disposals while Simon Moore collected 20 touches, Max Walters 18, Clancy Wheeler 17 and Adam Cockie 17.

Greg Broughton had a good game defensively for Subiaco and finished with 20 possessions while Wayde Twomey had 22 disposals and eight marks, and Aaron Heal 17 touches.

Liam Ryan kicked two of Subiaco's seven goals to continue his strong start to his league career.

East Fremantle struggled in front of goals in the horrible conditions at the Claremont Showground on Saturday but the Sharks were on top in most other areas and did enough for a fourth win on the trot and hold on to win by five points.

Once again it was George Hampson and Brock O'Brien the two standout players on the ground with the former delivering across half-forward and stints on the ball, and O'Brien tremendous setting up play off half-back.

Hampson finished with 31 possessions, 11 marks, eight inside-50 entries and two goals while O'Brien ended up with 22 touches, seven inside 50s, five marks and a goal.

Liam Anthony was another to have an outstanding game for the Sharks with 33 possessions and six tackles. Captain Jamie McNamara also gathered 23 disposals to go with seven marks and six tackles.

Jayden Schofield also finished with 22 disposals for East Fremantle, Dion Anthony 22, Sean Henson 19, Tim Bristow 18, Josh Simpson 18 and Ryan Lester-Smith 16.

Claremont lost a fifth straight match despite holding East Fremantle goalless in the final quarter.

Keifer Yu responded to being dropped to the reserves the previous week in style by putting in his best game of the season for the Tigers with 29 possessions and six marks.

Ian Richardson worked hard at half-forward for 23 disposals and five marks as well while Jye Bolton picked up 23 possessions, Tom Shanahan 22, Tom Ledger 22, Ryan Neates 22, Jake Murphy 21, Matthew Davies 20 and Jared Hardisty 18. Cameron Palmer was also impressive on debut.

Darcy Cameron continued his outstanding season kicking two goals in the tough conditions to go with 17 possessions, eight marks and 17 hit outs when helping Mitch Andrews in the ruck. Andrews also had 31 hit outs and 11 touches.

Blaine Johnson delivered a standout performance for South Fremantle with the form of the former Carlton small forward continuing to build impressively the longer season 2016 rolls on. On Saturday, he finished with a career-best five goals from 20 possessions.

Ben Saunders also got going in the second half for the Bulldogs to kick four goals with Haiden Schloithe booting three from 24 disposals.

Mason Shaw, Dylan Main and Shane Hockey all kicked two goals apiece for South Fremantle as well.

Ashton Hams had a field day through the midfield for the Bulldogs racking up another 43 possessions to go with seven inside-50 entries and six tackles.

Hockey also gathered 27 disposals for South Fremantle, Tim Kelly 23, Ryan Cook 20, Marlion Pickett 19, Matthew Gundry 17, Adam McIntosh 17 and Steven Verrier 17.

Brock Higgins dominated in the ruck as well in his best game of the season for the Bulldogs with 21 possessions and 41 hit outs.

Swan Districts might have lost again to remain a game and percentage clear on the bottom of the ladder, but it was a vastly improved performance especially in the first half.

Matthew Rogers ended up kicking three goals and Rudy Riddoch was called up for just his second game of the season to kick two.

Adam Faulkner was a tireless worker in the midfield for the black-and-whites racking up 36 possessions along with seven tackles, five inside-50 entries and a goal.

Matthew Jukes also enjoyed playing a role further up the ground to amass 21 touches with Matt Riggio also gathering 21 disposals (seven tackles), Ben Whitsed 16 and Albert Dean 15.
