WA Football District Structure Print E-mail
Both metropolitan and regional areas are divided into different geographic zones (or Districts) that have an affiliation with one of the nine West Australian Football League (WAFL) clubs.

Each football District in Western Australia is governed by a District Football Development Council (DFDC) in the metropolitan area and a Regional Development Council (RDC) in the regional centers. These councils are responsible for strategically planning the growth of all levels of football in the area players, coaches, umpires, administration and volunteers. This ensures competitions of a consistently high level of administration, opportunity for players of all levels to play and the development of a talent pathway for players to reach elite levels of football, such as the WAFL or AFL competitions.
The DFDC's and RDC's have members from all stakeholder groups within the area, including the WAFL, seniors, juniors, schools, umpiring and coaching. Each council has a Junior Competition Committee which is responsible for the conduct of the junior competition within the district.

Each WAFL club has development staff, the Smarter than Smoking Football Development Officers, based in both metropolitan and regional locations who are directed by the respective councils and who are managed on a day to day basis by their WAFL club. The development staff are your key liaison point for football participation and development programs within your football District.
