 Sunday 29th June, saw 10 towns gathered in Corrigin for the Neu-Tech AFL Junior Rules Cup. Neu-Tech Auto Electrics & Mechanical were the major sponsor for the day which saw over 170 young footballers gather to compete. The ‘Little Tackers’ participated in Auskick grid games.
The players involved were aged 5-8 and everyone enjoyed a highly entertaining 5 rounds of football. The joy it bought to these young footballers was immeasurable and the laughter it drew from spectators and parents was immense.
It was a great idea to get these younger footballers involved on the day as they thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The towns involved in making the day a success were Corrigin, Narembeen, Kulin, Kondinin, Hyden, Brookton and Bruce Rock.
Thanks to all of the coordinators, coaches and umpires for their contribution on the day. Participates received a NAB AFL Auskick participation certificate with one player from each team receiving an encouragement award. The Neu- Tech Cup was a keenly contested competition. This competition involved players aged 9-12 and showcased some dynamic Wheatbelt up and comers.
The chance to play against other footballers their own age and from other towns was embraced by all. Towns competing on the day were Corrigin, Narembeen, Pingelly, Brookton, Quairading, Hyden, Kulin/Kondinin and two teams from Merredin. The final result saw Pingelly awarded the Cup. A big thank you must go to all of the organisers of the day especially Sandy Browne, NAB Auskick coordinator for Corrigin.
Thanks also to all of the volunteers, umpires, coaches, canteen staff, NAB staff, players and especially parents who travelled a fair way to have their budding footballers compete on the day. Judging on the smiles on the players and parents faces, it was a great day for everyone involved. |
