School Holiday Footy Fever

A total of 275 enthusiastic kids aged 5 – 12 years put on the Red and Blue at April School Holiday Clinics coached by West Perth Football Club Players.

The young Falcons fans were introduced to a range of footy skills and coaching clinics conducted by West Perth Football Club League, Reserves and Colts players and all went home with a West Perth Football Club replica guernsey.

The program took place at Arena Joondalup on Tuesday April 13 and has been a regular holiday event for the club for a number of years.

West Perth District Manager Andrew Ridley said the programs, which run once over the April holidays and twice over the July holidays, are not only fantastic for promoting the West Perth Football Club, but also for promoting Aussie Rules footy culture in the district.

Tuesday’s clinic involved West Perth League and Colts players leading younger children through a series of training exercises, focussing in on essential skills such as kicking and handballing.

“Skill development is one of the key benefits of the program, along with helping the kids develop team work, social behaviour and encouraging an active lifestyle.”

In total there were:
- 275 kids
- 23 football coaches (West Perth FC Players)
- 275 West Perth FC Guernseys given away
- 196 Footballs

Many popular Falcons senior players were on hand to help out on the day including Darcy Barden, James King, Kody Manning and Shayne Zanetti. West Perth Football Club prides itself on being a club that embraces its local district and future footballers and thrives on any opportunity to involve itself in community activities.
