A highlight of the program will be visits from AFL and WAFL club players including Mark LeCras and Josh Kennedy from the West Coast Eagles, who will travel south to make a special appearance as part of the club’s commitment to growing the game and supporting grassroots football in regional communities.

Fremantle Dockers players will also be making an appearance, with names to be released shortly.

The Academy is being run by Dean Kemp in partnership with the West Australian Football Commission and with the support of proud major sponsor GMF Health Insurance.

The inaugural Academy will be held at Hay Park in Bunbury on July 18 and 19 (July school holidays) from 10am – 4pm, where Kemp will pass on the skills he learned as an AFL Premiership player and Norm Smith Medal winner with West Coast.

"I want a fair bit of the academy to be skills-based, the fundamentals of football – kicking, handballing, how to keep your feet, where to run – things that kids don't always instinctively have,” Kemp said.

The cost is $225 per child, which includes lunch, equipment, merchandise and a gift. For more information on program features and price inclusions CLICK HERE

Also, don’t miss a special interview with Dean Kemp on Channel Seven’s ‘Today Tonight’ on Friday night June 29 at 6.30pm, where he will discuss how the game plan has changed in terms of identifying talent and what it takes to become an elite AFL player nowadays, as well as giving a sneak peak for hopefuls wanting to take part in his academy.
