Registrations opened on February 27, focussing on all segments of the game ranging from Auskick, Junior and Youth football, senior community football, Female football, School programs, Indigenous, Multicultural and Umpiring.

In excess of 275,000 flyers promoting football and registration have been delivered to each school in the state and 50,000 Play AFL stickers have been distributed throughout WA.
Matthew Pavlich from the Fremantle Dockers and Nic Naitanui from the West Coast Eagles are involved in promoting the Play AFL message in WA in a series of radio adverts, website splash pages, a regional TV commercial and their images utilised on all creative material.

Statewide support from Coles supermarkets is allowing clubs to utilise their stores to promote football and register kids to ‘Play AFL’ in 2012.

There is also a strong focus on encouraging as many people to sign up to ‘Umpire AFL’ in local community football.

Particular focus is being placed on developing and supporting appropriate pathways for players, volunteers, umpire and coaches, to promote quality game-day experiences for all participants.

It is predicted that 140,000 participants will be involved in WAFC competitions, leagues and competitions in 2012.
