WAWFL Grand Finals Preview

The 2010 WAWFL Grand Finals take place this Sunday, 5 September, at EFTel Oval, Perth.

Coastal Titans will take on Swan Districts in the Division 1 Grand Final at 2.30pm. Swan Districts finished the year at the top of the ladder with an unbeaten record in the regular season. It was not until they faced the Titans in the Semi-Final of this year's finals series that they suffered their first defeat with the Titans edging a very close game. Swans hit back in the Preliminary Final ousting last year's Premiers, East Fremantle.

Coastal Titans and Swan Districts are two of the WAWFL's most skilled teams and they have the potential to deliver a truly memorable and exciting game on Sunday. Swans had the better of the regular season games but the Titans hit back in the play offs. It is anyone's guess who will taste success when the last siren of the year sounds at EFTel Oval on Sunday.

In the Division 2 Grand Final, which gets underway at 12.15pm, Peel Thunderbirds will take on reigning Premiers, South Fremantle Bulldogs. Peel Thunderbirds are the newest side in the WAWFL competition featuring a host of young players. The Thunderbirds have reached the Grand Final at the first attempt and will look to cap an unforgettable first year in the WAWFL with a Divison 2 Premiership. South Fremantle Bulldogs have had an eventful year after entering two sides in the WAWFL for the first time. This is no mean feat and to reach a Grand Final in this transitional year is yet another great acheivement for the club.

Peel Thunderbirds and South Fremantle shared the spoils in their regular season games with one win each. The two competitive sides will no doubt deliver an exciting game which will close the Division 2 season in style as well as provide a fantastic start to what is sure to be a memorable day of female football in WA.

Peel Thunderbirds will wear their striking pink jumpers on Grand Final day while South Fremantle will wear the traditional white jumper with a red 'V'. In Division 1, Coastal Titans will wear their regular jumpers of navy stripes with white and gold. Swan Districts will wear an alternative jumper that is predominantly white with the Swan logo on it.

Spectators are very welcome to attend these games with entry at $5. EFTel Oval is a licensed venue with food and drink available for purchase on the day. Please do not bring any pets, 'eskies ' or related items to the ground as you may be refused entry.

The WAWFL would like to take this opportunity to wish all players, coaches and support staff the very best of luck on Sunday as well as wishing all spectators an enjoyable day.
