THE Peel Football League is hoping to go one better than last year at the upcoming Landmark Country Football Championships, which kicks off on Thursday, July 14 at grounds around the metropolitan area.
In their first regular entry into the carnival last year, Peel came agonizingly close to snatching the A-section title from Upper Great Southern, who have dominated the competition for the past decade, losing the grand final by just five points.
New coach Clayton Falkingham says their aim this year is to knock off UGSFL. “We beat them in the first match last year but they came and got over us in the grand final,” he said.
